Our training facility is Stonepine Equestrian Center in Carmel Valley, Ca. on the Central Coast.
Stonepine was originally Double H Ranch, built by Henry Potter Russell, the first president of the California Thoroughbred Breederʼs Association (CTBA). It was built as the premier racehorse breeding facility west of the Mississippi in 1928. The current owners of Stonepine Estate love that the racehorses have returned.
We are grateful to have this quality facility available to us, and the great support of the owners, since every penny we raise goes to the care of our horses. We have room for many more horses, as funds allow.
Needless to say, we have access to the best training facilities, as well as miles of trails on this 330 acre estate. TROTT
horses get the benefit of trail riding, as well as arena work, so they leave us with good minds, and a love of their new job. Because of this abundance of resources, we currently have all of our horses who are in training, boarded at Stonepine.
Our head trainer, Athena Hall, has years of OTTB experience, having ridden to a Junior Olympic Gold Medal in Eventing, on her ex-racehorse, Dutton. Her boy is now in his 20s and still enjoys life at Stonepine. We have a large number of volunteers who help Athena with everything from riding, to giving the TROTT horses their own spa experiences in this little slice of Heaven. We also have another racetrack vet, Sara Sammons, DVM, who volunteers her time with the TROTT horses at Stonepine. TROTT horses are always treated with respect and kindness, & with lots of hugs for everyone!
